Standing For
-
Safe Streets
People of all ages should be able to get to work, school, and everywhere else without worry.
-
Housing
Edgewood is a great place to live. All residents, old and new, should be able to live and thrive here.
-
Infrastructure
Everyone deserves access to safe, high-quality modes of transit for commuting and recreation.
Accomplishments
Over my previous term I've been active in the community and the District, advocating for our corner of Ward 5. No matter how small, I've fought for it.
I look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve 5F02 in 2025!
-
Closed the MBT Gap
The Metropolitan Branch Trail is the backbone of Ward 5, and a vital asset to our neighborhood. I completed the work started by my predecessors, collaborating with neighbors, DDOT, and Councilmember Parker to make 8th Street NE, and the MBT, safe for all.
-
Advocated for Public Safety
As DC experienced a surging public safety crisis, I connected neighbors with MPD, held public safety walks, and fought for city resources to keep our neighbors safe.
-
Fought for Safer Streets
With reckless driving on the rise, I've secured major street safety improvements: the 8th Street NE overhaul, speed humps, protected east-west bike connectivity, crosswalk striping and daylighting, and crossing guards for schools. Beyond our SMD, I've pushed DDOT for a safer Rhode Island Avenue and chaired ANC 5F's Transportation and Public Spaces committee.
-
Served the Neighborhood
The District government doesn't always get it right. When city services have failed or surprised our neighbors, I've stepped in to resolve issues. I've also worked with local businesses to address their challenges, and removed obstacles to bring a grocer to Monroe Street.
-
Built a strong ANC 5F
Before redistricting, ANC 5E failed to meet its reporting and financial obligations. Together with fellow ANC 5F commissioners, I established a transparent and ethical commission. We implemented a groundbreaking hybrid meeting infrastructure, transparent noticing and reporting practices, and efficient management of taxpayer funds. Our efforts have set a standard for what a good commission should be.
...and more!
- Fought for Metro and MBT snow and ice removal.
- Got DPW to tow abandoned vehicles.
- Successfully engaged DDOT to add more crosswalks and stop lights.
- Added more housing to the ANC pipeline.
- Opposed polluting plants' operations in our community.
- More trash cans installed across the ANC.
- Fought for safer school zones.
